Jumping like Dagohoy
AlitaptapIn a letter to his mentor, here is an ALITAPTAP story of a 16-year old youth from Dumaguete who was then training for high jump and track and field competition for Palarong Pambansa.
| Ate Bing,
First of all thank you for sending me to the Brown raise seminar. I used to hate our race. I hated us because of our reputation . Our leaders are known to be corrupt, selfish, unconcerned for our country, unconcernedfor us in the next generation. We look up to them for their modeling but it seems like doing that will destroy us. |
|
| When I watched the PBA game live here in Dumaguete between Sta. Lucia Vs Burger King, I asked God why we always had to have imports. Can we not play well without imports? Do we have imports because they are taller, they are stronger,or smarter? How about us? Cant we play our best without them?So many questions I could not answer.
Then the Brown Raise seminar came. I heard the amazing stories of Lapulapu and Dagohoy. It warmed my heart. It lifted my spirit to proudly say. WE ARE GREAT! THE GREATEST. I AM A FILIPINO! I belong to the brown race! I am proud to be Pinoy! |

Now that I’m under training in track and field because I will be representing our city in the regional competition. I always tell myself during our daily practice that the blood of the great, brave, browned skinned heroes and warriors is flowing in my veins. It means that there is nothing impossible for me…because I am A Filipino Christian- my God, my church, my family, my school are with me in this fight!
I pray that very soon we the Filipino youth will not just say that our country is great but that… we belong to the Brown race. This is our own! |
NOTE: After Brown Raise, this person’s coach was surprised that he increased his jump by two meters compared to before Brown Raise. The coach said, “If I had known early in your training that you had this much drive and passion, I would have trained you harder. You might even beat the national record at the rate you are going.”

panalo ka kabataang brownraise…
tuwing pinapanuod ko ang PBA lalo na pagnaghahanada sila para sa international competition i always ask my self bakit kaya ung mga surname nila puro foreigner? Taulava, helterbran, norwood, pinisi to name few. everytime na manunuod kami ng family ko my father and older brother always state “magagaling naman ang mga players natin eh, kulang lang sa Figthing spirit.” tama sila, kasi i recognized na they are not giving their best kasi takot silang mapilayan and one time i heard a radio saying na kaya sila takot kasi baka masira ang career nila sa PBA where in malaki ang kinikita nila compare sa ibinibigay ng RP team.masakit man pero we are hiring a players who represent our country not for the honor but for the money.
